Andreas' Political Biography

I have been a Lincolnshire County Councillor since 2009; my ward is Boston North West, which covers Witham, Fenside, Brothertoft, Amberhill and Holland Fen.
I am on the following County Council Committees:

  • Children and Young People Scrutiny Committee
  • Councillor Development Group
  • Economic Scrutiny Committee
  • Corporate Parenting Panel (Vice-Chairman)
  • Appeals Sub-Committee
  • Narrowing the gap Task and Finish Group

Outside Bodies

  • Looked after children council

I am always looking for ways of improvement and how we can make positive changes in our lives and our communities. Politically, I have been involved in our local Conservative Branch for over three years, and was formerly the Vice-Chairman. I have also been involved in campaigning for several MP's including our very own Mark Simmonds, Lincoln's Karl Mc Cartney, Corby's Louse Bagshawe, and Norwich's Chloe Smith.

Community Involvement, Business and Hobbies

I am active in my community and in October 2009 I founded the Boston North West Action Group (BNWAG), there are over 20 members and we meet monthly. Our primary aim is to enhance the quality of life for all residents in the area, and to make Boston a more attractive place to work, visit and live. We have been campaigning to extend the DPPO for the whole Borough of Boston; this will give police greater power, as they will have the authority to confiscate alcohol that is consumed in public places involved anti-social situations. It will also help to alleviate the litter problems that we have.

In 2009, I organised a weekend musical celebration in aid of homelessness charity 'Centre point Outreach'. In 2009 and 2010 I have been responsible for organising the entertainment for Boston's annual Christmas Market, and I was also involved in the initial organising of the Inspire Music Festival held at St Botolphs in the summer of 2010. I have personally performed at local charity events including; the Boston branch of the Breast Cancer charity, for the Rotary and also at the Brothertoft village fete.

I care passionately about wanting to protect people, children and animals in our society. I have organised several 'Role Model Days' which is a concept that I created to help to raise aspirations of children. Working in schools, I arranged for guest speakers, which includes: nurses, doctors, fire officers and vets to talk to the children and introduce them to their world, and how education has been important for them in developing their careers.

I combine my council, community work and singing with my job. I have also been involved in business and industry for the last fifteen years. From managing multi million pound turnover businesses for well known UK brands, to running my own business. Previous roles include being an Area Manager for a well known retail brand, where I was responsible for forty branches and over 450 personnel. I have also worked extensively in Design and Marketing.

I am studying towards a Diploma in Economics through the Open University, and at University towards a BA Hon Degree in International Relations and Politics. . In my spare time, I have a passion for my family, history, genealogy, animals, and I enjoy cooking and having friends over for dinner.

I always try to see light and humour in my every day life. My life philosophy is that we always have a choice, to add a positive or negative chapter to the lives of those we interact with, and I choose the positive.

Lastly I like to bring a little (or a lot) of happiness to all the people (and animals) whom I may meet along the way.

Musical Biography

I am a soprano singer, songwriter and music teacher (previously I was the vocal coach and musical director of two theatre academies) where I taught children from aged four to eighteen. I also previously worked for the Lincolnshire Music Service, where I was a vocal coach that taught in schools in the County. (But left to concentrate on my duties as a councillor).

Born in Beverley, East Yorkshire, I became first became interested in singing as a child where I was a member of the school choir. I began taking piano lessons when I was twelve and I have been writing songs since I was sixteen.

Growing up, I toyed with the idea of becoming a vet, for I have such love and compassion for any animal. This trait still resides with me today, hence why I am a vegan.

My music career has certainly been colourful, I met the Prime Minister of Pakistan, and performed in Islamabad to thousands of people. My music video for my song 'The Beach' has been played in Asia, and became one of the most requested songs on one of their television shows.

Nearer to home I have performed twice at the Mela Festival at Roundhay Park, Leeds, this event was attended by 80,000 people. I have had various tracks from my debut album played several times on BBC radio.

This album was an eclectic mix of genres, all original tracks, mixing rock, pop, ballads and with a pinch of eastern flavour. I have nearly a four octave range up to F6 and have the ability to produce the warm luscious low tones, to the top 'phantom of the opera' type, whistle sounds.
